Multishow Brazilian Music Award for Rock of the Year is an annual award given at the Multishow Brazilian Music Award, a ceremony established in 1994 and originally called the TVZ Award. The Rock of the Year category was created in 2023 as part of a reformulation in the rules of the Multishow Award Academy.^[1][2] Previously, the Song of the Year award encompassed various musical genres within a single category.^[3] However, starting in 2023, this category was divided into 11 new categories, each dedicated to a specific musical style, including Rock.^[4][5]

This change aimed to recognize the diversity of genres present in Brazilian music and to provide greater space for popular styles that hold a significant presence in the country's music scene^[6] The Rock of the Year category highlights the most impactful songs within the genre, awarding artists who contribute to its evolution and popularity in Brazil.^[7]
